About Me

Robin Dindayal

I build teams, I build products, and I help talented people reach their full potential. Currently, I'm President of Tetra Unity at Tetra Digital Group, where I lead the development of enterprise-grade digital asset operations platforms for institutional clients.

My journey started in Cambridge, Ontario—born to immigrant parents from Guyana who came to Canada with nothing. They taught me two principles that have guided my entire career: nothing can be gained without hard work, and treat others the way you want to be treated.

Over 20+ years, I've built and scaled teams from zero to 200+ people, creating platforms that serve some of the world's largest companies—from Wells Fargo and RBC to Google and Best Buy. I've taken companies from $0 to $10M+ in revenue, led successful acquisitions, and what I'm most proud of: mentored hundreds of people who have gone on to do incredible things in their careers.

What drives me isn't just shipping software - it's watching someone realize they're capable of more than they thought, building a team that trusts each other completely, and creating products that genuinely make people's lives easier.

When I'm not working, I'm with my wife, our two kids and our dog in Oakville, Ontario.

Leadership Philosophy

💡 Trust Your Gut

Early in my career, I stayed silent when I had concerns about a technical decision because I thought others knew better. That taught me a valuable lesson: when you have genuine concerns backed by experience, speak up. Ask the hard questions. Respectful challenge makes teams stronger, and staying silent helps no one.

🧱 Brick Walls Are Tests, Not Barriers

Every company faces unexpected challenges—market shifts, tough quarters, competitive pressures. These obstacles aren't there to stop you—they're there to test your commitment. The difference between teams that succeed and teams that don't often comes down to resilience and how you respond when things get hard.

🚀 Everyone Drives the Bus

There are no passengers on high-performing teams. If you're on the team, you're contributing, you're engaged, and you're helping us move forward. Every role matters. Every voice counts. Building something significant requires everyone fully committed to the mission.

📚 We Learn by Reflecting, Not Just Doing

Experience alone teaches nothing—reflection does. After every win and every setback, we should ask: What did we learn? What would we do differently? The best teams don't just execute; they evolve. We get better by being honest about what worked and what didn't.

🎯 Be Good at Your Job, Be Great at Your Manager's Job

The fastest way to grow is to understand the level above you. Don't wait for a promotion to think strategically. If you want to move up, start operating there. Show you can handle the next level, and opportunities will follow.

💪 Hard Work + Discipline = Momentum

Nothing great is built without effort and grit. My parents taught me: nothing can be gained without hard work. Be disciplined in the things that don't give immediate returns—the learning, the practice, the extra mile. That's where growth happens.

🎨 Passion Fuels Everything

Life's too short to work on things you don't care about. Find work that excites you, where you can't wait to solve the next problem. When you're passionate about what you're building, the hard days become challenges instead of burdens. That energy is contagious and lifts entire teams.

"If you're the smartest person in the room, you're in the wrong room."

Surround yourself with people who challenge you, teach you, and push you to be better.

Co-op Program

Waterloo's co-op program was transformative. Six work terms across five different companies taught me more than any classroom could—how to work hard, how to fail, how to learn, and how to find what I loved.

The Journey Wasn't Linear

It was hard for me. Everyone in my class was the smartest from their high school. I was no longer one of the smartest—not even close. I failed a midterm in first year. I had never failed anything before.

Only 1 in 6 students who started in my program graduated from it. Of my entire study group in first year, I was the only one who made it through. And they all had better grades than me initially.

But I learned how to learn. I made the Dean's List in my last two semesters—after barely passing in my first two. That struggle taught me resilience, humility, and that hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.

"The brick walls are there for a reason. They're there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don't want it badly enough."
